Maria Prideaux Anderson

Biography

Maria Prideaux was born in South Australia in 1858. Her birth appears in the Adelaide index under the spelling Predeaux, with Jacob named as her father; her wedding announcement also identifies her father as Jacob.

In December 1882 she married John Anderson, also known as August, at Port Adelaide, the port district of Adelaide in South Australia. Later family records place the Andersons at Lameroo, an inland South Australian town, and then Prospect, a suburb of Adelaide. Her death notice names her husband August and daughter Elizabeth, helping connect the different forms of the family’s names across the records.

Maria died on May 13, 1937, according to the death notice published the following day; some family compilations instead give May 15.
