Family profile
Jacob Prideaux was a servant and farm labourer from Cornwall. He married Maria Weakly at North Petherwin on 1 August 1850. The couple and their infant son William travelled to South Australia aboard the Gloucester in 1852. A South Australian land abstract connects that immigrant family to the Cornwall marriage and reports Jacob’s death on 6 March 1868, aged 42. The civil index independently supports the death year. His daughter Maria’s birth index and wedding notice name him as her father.
