Biography
Citizen Potawatomi Nation historical material identifies Daniel Bourassa II as a son of Daniel Bourassa I and Marguerite Bertrand. He worked in the fur trade associated with the American Fur Company and married Theotis Pisange in 1808. They raised a large family near the Yellow River.
In 1838, the family was forced west on the Potawatomi Trail of Death. CPN's account places Daniel and eight family members on the muster rolls for the 660-mile march. They reached Kansas on 4 November without the promised shelter or supplies. Daniel and Theotis both died at Sugar Creek in 1840.
