Biography

Citizen Potawatomi Nation historical material identifies Theotis Pisange, also recorded as Theotiste and Aranwaiske, as a Nishnabe woman with an Ojibwe father and Odawa mother. CPN accounts describe her as Shabbona's niece and suggest that her mother may have been his sister; that maternal link remains qualified.

Theotis married Daniel Bourassa II in 1808 and raised a large family in the Great Lakes region. In 1838, they were forced west on the Potawatomi Trail of Death. She died at the Sugar Creek reservation in 1840.
