The life of Hervey Caillouette
Biography
Hervey Caillouette gave St Mary, Illinois, as his birthplace and residence when he married Melina Caisse there on April 2, 1893. He named Olivier Caillouette and Hermine as his parents. The couple's license had been issued the previous day; their marriage return records the ceremony at St Mary, witnessed by Frank Case and Agnes Regnier. Hervey signed as O. Hervey Caillouette. It was his first marriage, and he reported that he would turn twenty-two on his next birthday.
Hervey and Melina were the parents of Virgil Oliver Caillouette, born in Beaverville on September 4, 1899. Virgil's later birth registration also identifies Irene Caillouette Nourie as his sister. The registration cites a certificate from St Mary's Church and an affidavit from Irene among its supporting evidence.
