Biography

Thomas Daunt Lord was a British army officer who served in the West India Regiment and married Susan Greenslade in the Bahamas in 1810. The family arrived in Hobart aboard the Cumberland in January 1825. He commanded the Maria Island convict settlement from 1825 to 1832 and later served as an assistant police magistrate at Swansea. After his suspension, he lived at Okehampton near Spring Bay. He died in April 1865; sources differ between 22 and 23 April. John Lord and Margaret Mary Daunt remain candidate parents, with conflicting tree dates requiring further research.
