The life of William George Macky
Biography
William George Macky was born at Gallagh on January 30, 1879. His birth register names his parents as James Macky and Mary Mitchell and describes his father as a farmer. James reported the birth on February 20, giving Gallagh as his residence.
Matching parents and household connect William George with his brother George Duncan. Another family record may place him in Moville, County Donegal, in northwestern Ireland, twenty years later: when Robert Mitchell died on January 8, 1899, the informant was William Macky, identified as his grandson and present at the death. The register does not give that William's middle name, so the identification remains probable rather than certain.
