Alfred Nourie

Biography

Alfred Nourie was born in Illinois on February 29, 1868, identified in the working family reconstruction as the son of Joseph Nourie Sr. and Helen H. Blais; their exact identities are uncertain. On January 2, 1888 he married Delilah Bourassa, who had been born in Kansas and had come as a child to the community now called Beaverville, in eastern Illinois near the Indiana border. Their marriage joined his Illinois family with her Potawatomi and Bourassa family history.

The family account later preserved in the Hownikan records eleven children.

Alfred died on March 31, 1933. His memorial is at Saint Mary Cemetery in Beaverville, where the photograph identifies him as Alfred J. Nourie. A second image preserves the setting of the marker.

The family account names their children as Alphie, Arline, Leonie, Marie Louise, Antillie, Sherman, Elmer, Eustelle, Alfred (their son), Eugene Chester and Opal Nourie. Delilah survived her husband until May 4, 1942.
