The life of Susan McClure

Biography

Susan McClure belonged to the Dill household at Springfield in Fanad, the peninsula in County Donegal in northwestern Ireland. A family pedigree derived from Burke's Irish Family Records identifies her as a daughter of Richard McClure of Convoy, also in County Donegal, gives her birth as 1745, and records her marriage to John Dill on October 10, 1764.

Her children included Richard, who became minister at Knowehead, and Samuel, who served at Donoughmore. The family's connection with Springfield began after Susan and John married, when John acquired an interest in the property from the Pattons.

The Burke-derived record gives Susan's death as April 2, 1808, four years after John's.
