The life of Thomas Charles Good

Text size

Biography

Thomas Charles Good married Margaret Ann Robinson at Dalby, inland from Brisbane in Queensland, Australia, on September 30, 1869. Their wedding announcement named his father as the late Reverend Thomas Good of Framlingham, in Suffolk in eastern England. It supplies a specific connection to England without establishing Thomas Charles’s own birthplace or the date of his arrival in Australia.

In a 1949 interview, A. E. Good identified Thomas Charles as his father and recalled his years at Mount Compass and his death at Thebarton, a suburb of Adelaide in South Australia. A funeral notice published on September 8, 1909 records the removal of Thomas Charles’s remains from Taylors Road, Thebarton, to West Terrace Cemetery the following Thursday. He had therefore died by September 8; the notice does not establish the exact day of death.

His family lived first at Dalby and later in South Australia.
