The life of Robert Mitchell
Biography
Robert Mitchell was associated with two places on County Donegal’s Inishowen peninsula in northwestern Ireland: Kindraghead in the parish of Culdaff, where an 1836 marriage announcement placed him, and Limefield, Moville, his later family address. The announcement records his marriage to Rebecca Duncan on July 18, 1836.
When his daughter Mary married James Macky in November 1872, her marriage register named Robert as her father and gave her address as Limefield. Robert was described as a gentleman in his death register. He died at Moville on January 8, 1899, aged 94, an age suggesting birth around 1805. The informant was his grandson William Macky, who had been present at the death. The register does not give William a middle name.
