The life of Mary (Smith) Simkinson Brewster

Text size

Biography

Mary belonged to the English generation before the Mayflower voyage. The General Society of Mayflower Descendants identifies her as Mary (Smith) (Simkinson) Brewster, wife of William Brewster and mother of their son William, the future Plymouth elder. Its account places the son's birth probably at Scrooby, in northern Nottinghamshire in England, between June 1566 and June 1567.

This Mary was the mother of the Mayflower passenger William Brewster; his wife was another woman named Mary.
