Their story
William Brewster Sr. was an official at Scrooby Manor in Nottinghamshire, England. As receiver and bailiff, he administered the estate for the Archbishop of York; he later held the local postal office.[3]
With Mary (Smith) Simkinson Brewster, he was the father of William Brewster, the future Mayflower passenger and church elder. By 1588 the younger William had returned to Scrooby, where his father was serving as postmaster.[1,3]
