The life of George Abbes of Stoke Nayland
Biography
George Abbes of Stoke-by-Nayland, in Suffolk in eastern England, died in 1554, leaving a will. It refers to children under eighteen without giving their names. He also remembered his sister-in-law Elizabeth Abbes and her children, who were likewise under eighteen.
The proposed identification of Margaret, wife of John Mawle, as his daughter remains uncertain; the unnamed children in the will do not establish it.
