The life of Amy Lisette King MacKy
Biography
Amy Lisette King was born at Millers Forest, in the lower Hunter River area of New South Wales, Australia, on September 8, 1881, the daughter of George King and Eliza Elizabeth Barker. In 1908 she married George Duncan MacKy in the nearby Raymond Terrace district.
Their seven children were Minnie, Nellie May, James, Kathleen, Lindsay, Ernest Robert and Amy, known as Norma. The compiled birth entries place Minnie at Bellingen on the New South Wales north coast, Nellie May and Kathleen at Raymond Terrace, and James, Lindsay, Ernest and Norma at Bowraville, also in the New South Wales north-coast region.
The births span 1910 to 1918. By the 1930s the family record includes the children's marriages and an increasing connection with Auburn in western Sydney. Amy's husband died there on February 19, 1940, leaving her a widow at fifty-eight.
Amy lived another twenty-three years. She died at Auburn on March 24, 1963, aged eighty-one, and was cremated at Rookwood in western Sydney. Her own chronology begins at Millers Forest and ends in the Sydney district where several of the family's later records are concentrated.
