Marie Catherine Charet / Charest

Marie Catherine Charet, also recorded as Charest, married Jude Bourassa in 1833. Citizen Potawatomi Nation histories name Eugene Bourassa among their children and place the family's move to Kansas in 1840, during the displacement of Potawatomi households from the Great Lakes region.

A mission history quotes an entry in Duerinck's diary for 2 January 1858: “Widow Jude Bourassa” had sent three sons and two daughters to the mission school. The account records a specific decision about her children's education after Jude's death.
