The life of James Mirick

Text size

A household established in Weston

The church at Weston, west of Boston in Massachusetts, recorded James Mirick’s reception from the church in Groton, farther northwest in Massachusetts, on June 14, 1724. On October 20, 1725, he married Mary Woolson in Weston.

The Mirick genealogy places his birth in Newton, also west of Boston, in 1696. James and Mary’s children were born over roughly fifteen years, beginning with Susanna in 1726 and followed by Caleb, Mary, James, Elisha, Isaac and Josiah. Their household supplied several of the younger Miricks who later established homes farther west, but James himself remained associated with Weston.

He survived Susanna, whose death the genealogy places in January 1772. Weston’s published death list records his death on August 26, 1774. Mary survived him. The church reception and family entries place his adult life in Weston over a span of fifty years.
