Biography

Mary Ann appears in the marriage research for Clavering, in Essex in eastern England, as Mary Ann Boyten, a single woman marrying Joseph King on June 18, 1828. Her surname appears as both Boyten and Boyton.

The Fairhall compilation estimates her birth around 1805; the family chronology uses approximately 1805–1806 and places her in the family of Joseph King, with children Harriet and William.

The immigration abstract for her son William, who went to New South Wales on Australia’s east coast, names his mother as Mary.
