The life of Sherman Nourie
Biography
Sherman Nourie was born in 1898, a son of Alfred Nourie and Delilah Bourassa. He appears in their family listing in the 1917 farm directory. A later local index of First World War soldiers includes Sherman Nourie under Army records, providing a specific route into his early adult history.
A shared gravestone at St. Mary's Cemetery in Beaverville, in Iroquois County in northeastern Illinois, records Sherman as 1898–1983 and Stella as 1901–2000. Their son Robert Jon's 2024 obituary names them as his parents and identifies brothers Richard and Lee. Lareau's pedigree supplies Stella's maiden name as Anderson and calls one son Leland.
Sherman died in 1983. The stone preserves his name beside Stella's, while the obituary preserves their connection to a later household.
The 1986 Hownikan family account also names Sherman Nourie among Alfred Nourie and Delilah Bourassa’s children.
