The life of Leonie Nourie

Text size

Biography

Leonie is remembered in the Bourassa–Nourie family account as a daughter of Alfred Nourie and Delilah Bourassa. Paul Lareau's published genealogy connects her with Harry Francoeur. A 1940 census sheet provides a likely household match: Leonie, forty, appears as Harry's wife in Bradley, Kankakee County, Illinois, south of Chicago, with sons Dwayne, eight, and Donald, two. Both adults are recorded as born in Illinois.

The census places Harry and Leonie in the same community five years earlier. A Mount Calvary cemetery transcription lists Leonie Francoeur with the years 1899–1988, consistent with the chronology.

The family chronology dates Leonie’s birth to November 12, 1899 and her death to December 3, 1988; the cemetery inscription gives the years 1899–1988. The 1986 Hownikan family account also names her among Alfred and Delilah’s children.

The burial listing places Leonie Nourie at Mount Calvary Cemetery and Mausoleum, Kankakee, Kankakee County, Illinois, United States.
