Henry L. Stevens

Henry LeNoble Stevens was born at Pinopolis, South Carolina, on 23 May 1892. He married Mary Elizabeth Carpenter on 27 June 1917.

A first lieutenant in the 50th Aero Squadron, Stevens volunteered to return to active flying from a construction-command post. On 12 September 1918, during the St. Mihiel offensive, his DH-4 reconnaissance aircraft was shot down near Pont-à-Mousson. He was killed. A South Carolina service abstract records his burial in St. Mihiel Cemetery; the University of Virginia also names him among its war dead.
