The life of Marie Huet
Biography
Marie Huet was already married to Jacques Guyon when they made provision for the surviving spouse in 1583. Their household is subsequently visible in the baptismal records of Saint-Aubin at Tourouvre, in the Perche countryside of northern France: a daughter, Marie, in 1588, and a son, Jean, in 1592.
Jean married Mathurine Robin at Mortagne-au-Perche, in the same region, in June 1615. Over the following years, their children's baptisms were recorded there while Jacques and Marie's marriage approached its final years. Jacques died by 1623. Published research associates Marie with a burial at Saint-Jean-et-Saint-Malo in Mortagne on February 26, 1626, although the cited act does not name the woman.
If that burial identification is correct, her life ended in France before Jean’s departure for New France.
