The life of Barthelemy Devoisy
Biography
Family genealogies identify Barthélemy Devoisy and Jeanne Gardony as the probable parents of Jeanne Devoisy, who married Nicolas Pelletier in France. Their daughter's family is associated with Gallardon, near Chartres in the Beauce region of north-central France.
The younger Jeanne and Nicolas established a household there before leaving for New France around 1636. Nicolas was a carpenter, and their Canadian records would become much more extensive than those presently known for Jeanne's parents.
