Their story
Jeanne Devoisy joined a family farm lease to her son Jean and Marie-Geneviève Manovelly in 1669, followed by a lease to Denis-Joseph Ruette d'Auteuil in 1671. On 27 October 1673, a notarial abstract names her as seller of the Sillery habitation for 1,000 livres.
An earlier record concerns the sale of brandy to Indigenous men. A manuscript-checked transcription reports two injured men naming Nicolas Peltier's wife and a young man in the household as the sellers. On 14 September 1647, the governor imposed a fine of 100 livres and repayment of 400 porcelain beads, with confinement until payment.
