The life of Kaye Joyce
Biography
Kaye Joyce and her sister Cherie appear in a family recollection of an unusual Adelaide performance: water ballet on the River Torrens during the Festival Centre's opening celebrations. A retrospective published in 2023 recalls the swimmers rehearsing in a clear pool, then struggling to see one another beneath the river's water. The story preserves a practical difficulty of the performance, not just the fact that the sisters took part.
Kaye was born in Adelaide, the capital of South Australia, on February 4, 1940, according to the family record. Her parents were Charles Douglas “Doug” Joyce and Kathleen Hammond “Kath” Good. Alongside Cherie, family notes name a brother, Trever.
She was the mother of Elizabeth Anne “Liz” Conley, Gary Douglas Conley and Trisha Jane Conley. Geoff Munton is recorded as Liz and Gary's biological father; Jim/James Conley is Trisha's father and their stepfather.
The family places Kaye's death in the United States in November 2025. The record supplies a month, not a day.
