The life of William Dodkin
Biography
William Dodkin is identified as the father of Edith Maria Dodkin in the compiled family history. His wife was Rebecca, whose maiden surname remains unresolved.
The family becomes more clearly visible through migration records. The abstract for Maria King aboard the Sultana in June 1856 names William and Rebecca as her parents. It also identifies a brother, another William Dodkin, already living at Morpeth in New South Wales. The father and son were different men with the same name.
The family reconstruction gives Rebecca’s maiden surname as Colton or Coulson and places Edith Maria’s birth around 1836.
