Sydney, New South Wales, AustraliaFamily profile
Edith Maria Dodkin was born in Hertfordshire, according to the existing family account. She married William King at Langley, Essex, on 7 April 1855. The following year, they travelled to New South Wales aboard the Sultana with their infant son George.
The passenger transcription describes Edith as nineteen, a daughter of William and Rebecca Dodkin. Her brother William was already in the colony at Morpeth. The compiled family account dates the ship’s Sydney arrival to 28 June 1856; the official index cited in the project gives 27 June. That difference remains unresolved.
