The life of Joseph King

Text size

Biography

Joseph King belonged to the English generation of the King family associated with Langley, in Essex in eastern England. The parish-index research identifies him as a single man of Langley when he married Mary Ann Boyten at nearby Clavering on June 18, 1828. Boyten is the spelling reported in that entry; the family compilation uses Boyton.

The compiled family history places Joseph's birth around 1800 and names Harriet and William as children of the couple. The family history gives an earlier approximate wedding year of 1825, but the parish index records June 18, 1828.

A later trace of the family survives in the abstract of William King's 1856 immigration record, which names Joseph and Mary as his parents.

The compiled family outline gives Harriet’s birth as around 1830 and William’s as 1834.
