The life of Eugene Chester Nourie

Biography

Eugene Chester Nourie was born in 1891 into the large household of Alfred Nourie and Delilah Bourassa. The family account published in the Hownikan names him among their eleven children. His mother had come from Maple Hill, near Topeka in northeastern Kansas, to the community now called Beaverville, in eastern Illinois near the Indiana border, as a young child; Eugene's memorial places his own birth at Beaverville.

He was the father of Lorraine Madeline Nourie, born in 1918. The family's Citizen Potawatomi enrollment material preserves the connection through Eugene and Delilah.

His later memorial places his death at Bradenton, Florida, on April 26, 1971 and his burial at Skyway Memorial Gardens in nearby Palmetto, on Florida’s Gulf Coast. The record thus follows him from the Illinois Nourie household to Florida, where he died in 1971.

The Hownikan family list names his siblings as Alphie, Arline, Leonie, Marie Louise, Antillie, Sherman, Elmer, Eustelle, Alfred and Opal Nourie.
