The life of Edmund Talman Hixon
Biography
Edmund Talman Hixon married Nancy Carpenter on March 1, 1876. His memorial gives his birth as September 22, 1851 and names Jotham Hixon and Louisa Pickering as his parents. Through Nancy, the household became connected with the Carpenter family of the area now called North Attleborough, Massachusetts.
Four children are recorded in the family account: Abby White, Cynthia, Louise and Mortimer. Their births extended from 1877 to 1888. Mortimer, the youngest, died on September 7, 1890, three days before his second birthday. Edmund and Nancy therefore lost their small son while their daughters were still growing up.
Edmund died on June 16, 1898, aged forty-six. His daughter Cynthia was eighteen; Nancy would outlive him by nearly three decades.
