The life of Helen E. Szabo Doades
Biography
Helen E. Szabo married Floyd Vincent Doades. Their son, Thomas Wendel, was born in Indiana on November 24, 1932, and attended Central High School in South Bend, Indiana. The school was also part of Helen’s wider family history: her sister, Elizabeth Szabo, had attended it before Thomas.H1
By 1961, Helen and Floyd were living on Hackney Lane in Dallas, Texas, with their adult son sharing their address. Floyd worked as a supervisor, while Thomas had become a commercial artist, producing artwork for business use. Helen was also living in Dallas in January 1980, when her sister Elizabeth died.H2H3
Elizabeth’s life connects this branch of Helen’s family with Hungary and South Bend. Born in Hungary on December 20, 1905, Elizabeth married Charles J. Cako in South Bend on December 31, 1938. She was buried in the city’s Highland Cemetery after her death in January 1980.H2
