Biography
René Bourassa was born at La Prairie on 1 June 1718 to René Bourassa dit La Ronde and Agnès Gagné. Michilimackinac records distinguish him as René Bourassa, fils—the younger René.
On 3 August 1744, he married Anne-Charlotte-Véronique Chevalier. The same record acknowledged their son René-François, with the elder René as godfather. Daniel was born at Michilimackinac on 8 October 1752. A historical note in the Mackinac Letter Book records René’s burial at Detroit on 24 November 1792. He is distinct from his half-brother René-Clément, a child of his father’s second marriage.
