The life of William Brewster Sr.
Biography
William Brewster Sr. was an official at Scrooby Manor in Nottinghamshire, in the English Midlands. As receiver and bailiff, he administered the estate for the Archbishop of York; he later held the local postal office.
With Mary (Smith) Simkinson Brewster, he was the father of William Brewster, the future Mayflower passenger and church elder. By 1588 the younger William had returned to Scrooby, where his father was serving as postmaster.
Historical accounts place his appointment to the Scrooby estate offices in the 1570s. His recorded burial association is St. Wilfred Churchyard at Scrooby.
