The life of Eugène Hequet
Biography
Eugène Hequet was born about 1748, the son of Alexandre Joseph Hequet and Barbe Reine Courtin. He lived at Biache-Saint-Vaast, in what is now Pas-de-Calais in northern France, where the compiled family record describes him as a cabaretier, a tavern keeper.
He married Jeanne Hélène Briez on March 3, 1778. Their children included Noël Joseph, born in 1779, Charles Guislain in 1781, Marie Guislaine in 1782 and Pélagie Joseph in 1789.
Jeanne Hélène died in 1809. Eugène survived her and was still living after 1812. His occupational title establishes the family's connection with the sale of drink and a public-facing village business.
