The life of Theoda Miner Rogers
Biography
Theoda Miner was born on April 27, 1726, according to the Rogers genealogy, which identifies her as a daughter of Joseph and Grace Miner. She married Nathaniel Rogers on September 13, 1747. Their first child, Elizabeth, was born the following year, beginning a family whose early births were recorded at New London, a port on Connecticut’s southeastern coast.
The record of that household is unusually useful in placing Theoda geographically. Nathaniel was described as living at New London through 1763 and at inland Lebanon, Connecticut, in 1764. The family’s move thus occurred while their children were still growing up. The genealogy records the first nine children’s births at New London.
Theoda died before Nathaniel’s marriage to Susannah Marvin in April 1778. Theoda’s death date is unknown. What can be recovered securely is her place in the New London household established in 1747, the children born there, and the family’s subsequent connection with Lebanon.
