The life of Margaret Child
Biography
Margaret Child married Zachariah Carpenter on November 27, 1728. Their household was at Rehoboth, in what is now southeastern Massachusetts, where the published family genealogy records a long sequence of children's births beginning with Patience in June 1729.
The couple lost a young son, Zachariah, in May 1733. Keziah was born later that year, and another son named Zachariah followed in February 1734/35. Other children included Phanuel, Martha, Caleb, Simeon, Esther, Richard, Grace and Benjamin. The last of those births is dated May 1751, placing more than twenty years between Margaret's first and last children in this account.
Her husband was a farmer. Their son Zachariah married Hannah Carpenter in 1760; the elder Zachariah died at Rehoboth in July 1765.
