The life of Anna Osgood
Biography
Anna Osgood married Oliver Titcomb about 1752 and made her home at Amesbury, in northeastern Massachusetts near the New Hampshire border. The family history connects the couple with the house Oliver built on School Street at Amesbury Mills.
Their children were born over a period extending into the early 1770s. The household included Molly, Lois, Rhoda, Moses, Betsey, Jonathan, Sarah, Ichabod and Tabitha. Two names, Rhoda and Sarah, were reused after earlier daughters died young. Anna's motherhood therefore included both a growing household and the loss of children.
The town records name her alongside Oliver in the births of Jonathan in December 1763, Sarah in February 1766, Ichabod in November 1769 and Tabetha in July 1772. These entries give Anna a direct place in the local record, beyond her appearance as a spouse in the later genealogy. Her daughter Sarah married Tristram Barnard and established a family at Weare, in inland southern New Hampshire.
