The life of Ruth Martin

Text size

Biography

Ruth was the wife of Tristram Barnard of Amesbury, in northeastern Massachusetts near the New Hampshire border. Their daughters included Judith, Dinah, Miriam, and Rachel. The family's records include the death of an earlier daughter Rachel in May 1711, followed by the birth of another Rachel in July 1713.

These entries preserve a household experiencing births and childhood loss within a few years. Ruth's son Tristram also became the head of an Amesbury family.

The family reconstruction uses the name Ruth Martin, but her maiden surname has not been established.
