The life of Abigail Cole
Biography
Abigail Cole married Ebenezer Higgins at Eastham, on Cape Cod in present-day Massachusetts, on October 5, 1721. The published town-record transcription names Joseph Doane as the official who performed the marriage.
Their children's entries trace a household growing through the 1720s and into the following decade. Experience was born in March 1723/24, Asenath in July 1726, Isaiah in April 1727, Elkanah in November 1729 and Ebenezer in June 1731; the family list also includes the eldest son, Cornelius. The records repeatedly identify Abigail with Ebenezer as the children's parents.
Elkanah subsequently married Sarah Knowles, joining Abigail's family to another established Eastham household.
