The life of Bathsheba Baldwin
Biography
Bathsheba Baldwin was born at Guilford, on Connecticut’s southern coast, in February 1716, a daughter of Timothy Baldwin and Bathsheba Stone. She married Joseph Chidsey in October 1735 and raised her family at North Guilford. Their children included Joseph, Lois, Samuel, Asenath, Sarah, Mary, and Nathan.
Two children are remembered together on a surviving memorial inscription. Samuel died in November 1760, in his seventeenth year, and Sarah in February 1764, in her sixteenth. These losses came while other children were still young.
Bathsheba outlived Joseph, who died in May 1790. She died in September 1792. Their shared memorial preserves both names, while the children's inscription records the earlier losses within the family.
The burial listing associates Bathsheba Baldwin with Old North Cemetery, Guilford, New Haven County, Connecticut, United States.
