The life of John Leete

Text size

Biography

John Leete lived in the neighboring villages of Little and Great Eversden in Cambridgeshire, England, near Cambridge. Tax records place him at Little Eversden in 1540 and Great Eversden in 1542. With Ellen Burgoyne, also called Helen, he raised a family whose sons included Robert, William, Edmund, Thomas, and Henry.

Robert became a fellow of St. John's College, Cambridge, while the family's land continued to connect the brothers with Eversden. John was buried at Little Eversden on Christmas Day, December 25, 1551. Ellen survived him, and the family's subsequent property and estate records continued to name their sons.
