The life of John Reade
Biography
John Reade and his wife Margaret lived at Bures St. Mary in Suffolk, England, on the River Stour at the Essex county boundary. Their daughter Elizabeth married William Knopp in the parish in 1584. When John prepared his will on July 8, 1597, he remembered both Elizabeth and William with legacies.
The bequests preserve a direct connection between the Reade and Knopp households. They also place John within the settled life of Bures, where his daughter had married and was raising her own family. His will was proved on November 15, 1597, establishing that he died between its preparation in July and its probate that autumn.
