The life of Phebe Leete Parkhurst

Text size

Biography

Phebe Leete and George Parkhurst had nine children baptized at Ipswich, in Suffolk in eastern England, between 1612 and 1629; three died in childhood. Their daughter Deborah married John Smith. Phebe's own presence in New England is unproved.

She was a daughter of Robert Leete and Alice Grundy. Her life belongs most securely to the English household from which several of her children later departed.

The parish-based family reconstruction records Phebe’s baptism on December 20, 1585. Phebe had died before November 21, 1644, by which date George had remarried; her exact death date is unknown.
