Biography
Nathaniel Batchelder served as Hampton’s constable during the conflict over royal taxation in 1684. The town history records warrants directing the constable to collect unpaid rates by seizing goods and, in Henry Dow’s case, to proceed against him if payment or security was not supplied. The account establishes the assignment, but not every action ultimately taken.
