The life of Sarah Champney
Biography
Sarah Champney was living in Southborough, Massachusetts, west of Boston in New England, when her intention to marry Edward Chamberlain was recorded at Dudley, farther southwest near the Connecticut border, on July 28, 1770. Southborough's published records give their marriage on August 31 that year. The two entries preserve different steps in the marriage process, linking Sarah's Southborough identity to the Chamberlain family found in Dudley.
Dudley's birth records name Asahel, born on September 12, 1775, as a son of Edward and Sarah. They also record children under the same parental names across the following years.
