François Plante

In1694, François Plante accepted the ancestral property at Château-Richer under an agreement described by family historian Clément Plante. François undertook to provide housing, heat and food for his parents, Jean Plante and Françoise Boucher, and to keep younger siblings Louise and Joseph with him. The agreement gives a concrete record of family responsibility and the transfer of a colonial household’s property between generations.
