The life of Simon Savart
Biography
Simon Savart, the elder, was a wheelwright in the family of Marguerite Vinaut at Montreuil, just east of Paris, France. Their children were recorded at Saint-Pierre-et-Saint-Paul: Jean, Simon, Guillaume, and Marie.
His son Simon later appears as a master wheelwright, providing evidence of the same craft in two generations. The younger Simon married Marie Hordoville and migrated to Canada.
