The life of Anne Godefroy
Biography
Anne Godefroy married Jean Tétard at the Protestant temple of Lintot, in Normandy in northern France, on February 3, 1630, according to the family origin dossiers. Their children's entries extend from Jacques in 1631 to Anne in 1647. Jeanne, born in 1642, later married François Le Ber at Montréal.
The household's later history crossed both geographical and religious boundaries. Jean and two sons made a formal Catholic declaration at La Rochelle, on France’s Atlantic coast, in 1651. Anne is not named among its participants. Meanwhile, daughters' later marriages were recorded in the Protestant congregation at Grand-Quevilly, near Rouen in Normandy. These events document different paths within the family without explaining the conversations or decisions behind them.
A compiled passenger repertory reports Anne's burial at Rouen on March 26, 1678. If the identification is correct, it places the end of her life in France, after several children's Canadian connections were established.
