The life of Michael Henry Hequet

Biography

Michael Henry Hequet worked as a computer systems analyst. Away from that work, his interests included fishing, playing guitar and sketching. His obituary names all three, giving a fuller picture than his job title alone.

He was born in Kankakee, Illinois, on August 14, 1938, the son of Henry Joseph “Toby” Hequet and Lorraine Madeline Nourie. Sandra Kay was his sister. He served in the United States Army in Germany during the Vietnam era.

On March 27, 1978 he married Diane Sims in Macomb, in western Illinois. His children included Dawn Kohn and Michael J. Smith. After his death, a former colleague recalled working with him in Florida and Virginia, adding two places to the account of his career without identifying a particular employer.

Michael died at his home in Jacksonville, in west-central Illinois, on September 3, 2011, aged seventy-three. His funeral arrangements named Diamond Grove Cemetery. The obituary brought together his military service, technical career and the quieter pursuits of drawing, music and fishing.
