The life of Henri Le Barbier
Biography
Henri Le Barbier was a merchant bourgeois of Rouen, on the Seine River in Normandy, northern France. He and Marie Le Villain arranged their marriage contract on June 20, 1601; the origin dossier places their wedding in July. A separate genealogical account records the contract's deposit on July 30. These were distinct steps in establishing their household.
Henri was the son of Martin Le Barbier and Marthe Lefebvre. His daughter Marie was baptized at Saint-Cande-le-Vieux in Rouen on May 20, 1619. She later married Nicolas Marsolet and went to New France in 1637.
The records establish Henri's commercial standing and his family's Rouen connections, but do not identify what he traded.
